This following examples are based on x86 architecture. Data-types on x64 have different lengths.
A byte is 8 bits. SHORT is another way to say WORD, which is 2 bytes. LONG is just a fancy way of saying DWORD, which is 4 bytes. A signed data-type is a data-type that is possible to have negative numbers. Unsigned means you cannot have negative numbers.
